Contraindications

Although Kambo is generally safe when used under normal circumstances by experienced practitioners, it is not right for everyone. Certain physiological and psychological conditions can make its application extremely dangerous and potentially life-threatening. For this reason, Kambo can not be administered to individuals with the following conditions or on the following medications:

  • Serious heart conditions or those who have had heart surgery (excluding stents)

  • Brain hemorrhage, aneurism, or blood clots

  • Medicated low blood pressure

  • Stroke

  • Serious mental health issues including but not limited to schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder

  • Those who are taking or have recently taken SSRI, SNRI, NDRI, MAOI medications

  • Those taking medications for ADHD (can be stopped 3 days prior)

  • Chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatments within 4 weeks

  • Those on immune-suppressants

  • Those with organ transplants

  • Addison’s disease

  • Epilepsy

  • Those with certain types of EDS

  • While in recovery from a major surgical procedure

  • Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding someone under 6 months old

  • Anyone under the age of 18 or lacking the mental capacity to understand and consent to using Kambo

This list is not exhaustive, and it is essential to disclose any significant health conditions at least three days prior to your session.

The suitability of Kambo may vary depending on the stage of an illness and the individual’s constitution.
